RHINOCEROS

RHINOCEROS (GA n. 101069685) develops a cost-effective and sustainable route for reusing, repurposing, reconditioning, and recycling end-of-life EV and stationary batteries. This includes a smart sorting and dismantling system for lithium-ion batteries and a circular recycling route for raw materials. Watt4Ever supports to characterize, source, and supply end of-life batteries. Also, it provides the industrial environment and expertise to develop and validate an automated robotic dismantling solution for repurposing of end-of-life electric vehicle batteries for second-life applications.

Free4lib

FREE4LIB

FREE4LIB (GA n. 101069890) aims to develop sustainable recycling processes for lithium-ion batteries, including dismantling, pre-treatment, and material recovery. The project will deliver innovative solutions for efficient materials recovery, battery passport methodology, and open platforms for process optimization. Watt4Ever develops methodologies for assessing the State of Health (SoH) of End-of-Life (EOL) Lithium-ion Batteries (LIBs) to determine their suitability for second-life applications. They are also responsible for the design and assembly a Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) using these repurposed battery modules.

Solmate

SOLMATE

SOLMATE (GA n. 101069685) aims to establish a sustainable value chain for reusing and recycling PV solar panels and EV batteries. The project focuses on developing low-cost decentralized energy systems in three demo sites and improving recycling technologies for critical raw materials. Watt4Ever develops a low-cost decentralized energy system using EV batteries and PV panels, tested in a school in Anderlecht. They also support the other demonstrator, EV battery characterization and qualification, and WEEE component reuse assessment.

HiHelios

HI-HELIOS

HI-HELIOS (GA n. 101137626) develops a modular, scalable, and safe Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS) for grid applications and EV charging support, utilizing repurposed EV batteries and shelf battery modules. The project will demonstrate the HESS in four real-world use cases. Watt4Ever assembles and manufactures the HESS demonstrators. That includes supporting defining the HESS modular architecture and optimizing hardware design, procuring off-the-shelf components, and conducting thorough functional, performance, and safety tests for these HESS units.
