Sortbat Norway
Formerly known as Høyenergi (Batteriretur), Sortbat Norway specialises in safely handling all types of batteries, including those from EVs, industrial machines, the maritime sector, buses, aircraft, and energy storage systems.
Since 2011, we have worked with high-energy batteries across Norway and Europe — at our facility, on board vessels, or directly on-site.

Dismantling large batteries
As Norway leads Europe in electrification, the number of end-of-life EV batteries is growing rapidly. Dismantling these safely and efficiently is a core competence of Sortbat Norway. With our flying technicians, we carry out assignments both within Norway and abroad.

Special permit from DSB
Handling industrial batteries presents specific challenges — many of the batteries on the market today have shapes or sizes that make it impossible to use standard safety containers (ASP containers). For this reason, Sortbat has obtained a special permit from the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) to transport such batteries, following a strict and secure packaging process with advanced monitoring.
This approval has been granted by Norwegian authorities and therefore only applies within Norway. It ensures that transport, classification, packaging, and labeling are all carried out in compliance with international ADR/UN regulations and the highest safety standards.
Circular solutions
In close collaboration with our headquarters in Belgium, Sortbat in Norway also offers circular battery solutions for industrial batteries.
